» A CHIEF ENGINEER POSITION FOR 125FT SAILING YACHT (PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A Private 125ft sailing yacht (Palmer Johnson Schooner) which is currently in New Zealand Cayman Island flagged is currently looking for a Chief Engineer to join their crew of 7. The crew-member needs to be between the ages of Late 20’s to Early 40’s The yacht was built in 1991 and a 10 month refit 2006/2007 and 3 month refit in 2007. The yacht is mostly used with only the owners on board. The owner uses the yacht for extended periods of time. Very understanding and accommodating owner. They understand the needs of the crew. The tender and water toys are available to crew to use for recreation however great care is taken. The owners are not demanding and very seldom invite guests to sail on board. Crew quarters are very spacious with flat screen satellite T.V in crew mess. Hundreds of DVD's available on central entertainment system.

The crew-member needs to be a

  • non smoker this is a must.
  • No tattoos which are visible when wearing uniform.
  • No ear rings, tongue studs, nose rings or any other body piercing.
  • No beards or moustaches allowed, must shave every morning except when under way offshore passages. Must not have any medical problems which would prevent shaving.

Must not have any special dietaries; such as Kosher, vegetarian, organic food. The yacht enjoys great healthy meals but do not carter for individual preferences. Only want single crew no boyfriends or girlfriends working on another yacht. Must show interest and be prepared to provide longevity in the industry, “no seasonal crew allowed” or need apply. Referees and written references must be provided as the yacht will check that these are legit. Crew-member must be a team player as all crew assist in docking, fenders, lines and launching tenders. The yacht all works towards common goal of offering the owners a great time on a well cared yacht. The yacht is looking for good honest, clean cut, hard working and fun loving candidates who have a sense of responsibility and pride. Even though the yacht works hard, they also have a lot of fun on board, such snorkelling, BBQ on the beach, Diving and water skiing.

There is an Alarm/Monitor touch screen system in the Engineer's cabin to enable him to monitor the ship's systems.

We offer full medical insurance - including dental after 3 months, 30 days paid vacation, up to $ 750USD towards plane ticket for vacation; time for courses can be accommodated once the crew member has established his longevity and good intent.

Captain and Chief stewardess are married and have been on board since August 2005 and they share a cabin.

Itinerary

Yacht is presently in New Zealand, in the yard and plans to depart Auckland, New Zealand at the end of April 2010. The itinerary for the rest of 2010 will include a voyage through Vanuatu, the Solomon island’s and Micronesia before ending the year in Sydney.

Qualifications

STCW95, Candidates do not need to have MCA certification. The sailing yacht is a rather completed vessel and the position thus requires and individual with proven engineering capabilities. This is not for the individual who are new to the yachting industry and who wishes to “learn on the job”. A Strong sailing background and strong yachting back is a must. Must not get sea sick.

  • AEC engineering ticket – this would be minimum requirement.
  • MCA Y3, Y4, ticket - ANY OF THESE WOULD BE ADVANTAGEOUS.
  • Australian tickets such Med 1, 2, or 3 - SAME AS ABOVE.
  • Need knowledge in air conditioning, electronic and refrigeration - KNOWLEDGE OF MAINTENANCE OF AIRCON AND REFRIGERATION IS ESSENTIAL. NO NEED FOR IN DEPTH KNOWLEDGE TO REBUILD THE UNITS - BUT MUST KNOW HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT AND EFFECT NORMAL REPAIRS. SAME FOR ELECTRONICS.

» CHIEF ENGINEER POSITION ON A 45M MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE AND CHARTER)

Yacht Information:

A commercially registered, m/y is currently searching for a Chief Engineer to join the crew of 8. Used both privately and for charter, this Millennium 145 High Speed Tri Deck Motor yacht was launched in 2004. Cruise speeds from 30 to 50kn, with a top speed in excess of 60kn.

Work Information

This yacht has a unique specification and is fitted with Paxman Diesels, Wartsila Lips Water Jets, and Lycoming Turbines giving a total of approximately 21,000hp. Familiarity with this equipment will be considered a serious advantage, however, it is not essential.

A good knowledge of Hydraulics is however essential and good Electronics and IT skills will be advantageous.

The ideal candidate should be willing and able to take on a technically complex and challenging engine room onboard a unique high speed yacht. A very high level of commitment and dedication to the program will be required by the successful applicant.

On this yacht both Engineers also form part of the deck crew during normal operation with regards to anchoring, docking, tender driving, etc, and any applicant should be comfortable with this as part of the daily role onboard.

Candidates should be aware that the owner is Russian and whilst extremely pleasant this can result in a certain amount of spontaneity. Being organised, prepared, and flexible, is key in this regard.

Both the owner and the existing crew are of a younger age bracket and therefore the position would ideally suit someone under 35 years old.

Itinerary

The successful candidate will join the yacht in the South of France where it will be based for a few months whilst completing some work after which the yacht will return to active private and charter duties. Normally the winter season is spent in the Seychelles and the summer season in the Mediterranean. The crew need to be in the Mediterranean for this position as the yacht will not pay for crew from other side of the world.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • MCA Y1 or Y2 engineering certification would be preferred however due to the unique specifications of this yacht skills and experience will precedence over specific qualifications. Therefore a candidate with skills especially suited to this yacht but with lesser qualifications could be assessed.
  • Have STCW95 Basic Training & a valid ENG1 Medical Certificate.
  • Hold a Tender Licence and be capable of driving a 6m tender.
  • Have previous yachting experience commensurate with the position, and a minimum of 4 seasons in a similar role.
  • Have knowledge of all the normal systems onboard a modern yacht.
  • Be confident in the water as diving (non scuba) and underwater maintenance on the yacht is a regular occurrence.
  • Have excellent administration, and organisations skills to run the entire engineering program of the yacht in conjunction with the 2nd engineer.
  • Be computer literate as the yacht utilises a software based maintenance program.
  • Speak English (additional language skills will be considered a serious advantage).
  • Have a good team skills, be highly motivated, have a professional attitude, and be well presented

» MATE POSITION ON A 45M MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE AND CHARTER)

Yacht Information:

A 45m motor yacht, private and charter is currently searching for a Mate to join the crew of 8. This position is crucial to the operation and safety of the yacht and will require a particularly motivated, talented and switched on individual. As a unique high speed yacht, the safety of the yacht, guests and crew is paramount at all times and heavy responsibility will fall to the Mate in this regard and with respect to all operations of the yacht and her crew.

Candidates should be aware that the owner is extremely pleasant with a rather spontaneous nature. Being organised and flexible is key in this regard. Male candidates are preferred due to the onboard cabin arrangements.

Both the owner and the existing crew are of a younger age bracket and therefore the position would ideally suit someone under 35 years old.

Ideally it would suit a good Mate or Bosun with a responsible can do / make it happen attitude that is looking to move to perhaps a slightly larger or different yacht/program and to gain experience on a high speed yacht. There will be the possibility for some helming experience from time to time, however due to the short passage times normal aboard this yacht this position would not be appropriate for someone wishing to obtain ‘time at the wheel’.

There is a total of 8 Crew - Captain, Mate, Deckhand, Chief Engineer, 2nd Engineer, Chief Stewardess, 2nd Stewardess, and Chef. A 3rd Stewardess may be added once the yacht returns to full active service.

  • Diving certification is not mandatory but will be considered an advantage.
  • Have excellent Leadership, Administration, and Organisational skills to run the Deck Operations of the yacht, and manage and control both the deck and other crew as required.
  • Be experienced and capable of driving a 6m tender.
  • Speak excellent English (additional language skills will be considered a serious advantage).

» DECKHAND/DIVE INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS ON A 120M MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A private 120m motor yacht is currently looking for a deckhand/dive Instructor to join their crew of 45. They looking for an English speaking crew-member, must be between the ages of Mid 20’s to 30’s. The crew-member must have strong small boat handling skills, jet ski skills and current dive instructor qualifications. Experience in Awl Grip and experience with Varnishing and using part 1 and part 2 products.

Holiday Leave: 5:1 ratio, 2x flights a year. Crew-member must be prepared to commit to the yacht for 2 years. If you do not want to do this then please do not apply for this position, as they will not consider you. If you commit to the yacht for two years there are good opportunities to achieve training courses ashore and on board. The yacht follows the merchant navy Code of conduct and complies to a Company issued Drug and Alcohol policy. You will be asked to complete a drug test and police check if you are expected for the position.

NOTE: This position is 90% deckhand duties and 10% diving instructor when there are guests on board

Must be between the ages of Mid 20’s - 40’s. Must have experience as a first mate and have worked on vessels this size or larger as a first mate. Strong management skills, varnishing and handling 2x pack paints and varnishing products. Strong Watch-keeping knowledge and tender boat license

» STEW/STRONG COOK/CHEF POSITION ON 35M MOTOR YACHT (Australian flagged vessel)

Yacht Information:

A 35m motor yacht is currently looking for a Stew/strong cook/chef to join their crew of 5. The yacht is both Private and charter. Preferably looking for candidates in Australia. Your duties will be cooking for crew when there are no guests on board and completing stewardess duties throughout the day. The type of food that is required on board is nice Australian meals with an Asian touch. The owner and charter guests will like to have a variety of sea food, stir fries, nice healthy salads, Steaks and some baking will be required. Good healthy desserts as well.

Qualifications

STCW95, Chef qualifications, yachting experience is a bonus and strong eye to detail. You will need to be extremely organised both in the galley and inside the rest of the yacht. Stewardess skills such as laundry, table settings and interior and exterior detailing will be a bonus.

» A CHIEF ENGINEER POSITION FOR A 55M EXCURSION MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A 55m private motor yacht is now looking for a head chef or strong cook join their crew of 8. The yacht is currently in Singapore. The successful candidate will be between the ages of 30 to 45 with the relevant qualifications, experience and knowledge required for a yacht of this size. The owner is European and the present crew consists of an American Captain, a European 2nd Engineer and Chief Mate with the rest of the crew being Indonesian.

The owner will use the yacht approx 6 months of the year. A one year contract to be signed by the successful candidate, working 10 months on board, starting with a 4 month probation period. Must be able to speak fluent English. The yacht is Cayman Islands flag. Medical insurance and annual holiday to be discussed with the candidate during the interview.

South East Asia for the next 12 months.

» 2nd STEWARDESS POSITION ON 50M MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A 50m motor yacht is currently looking for a Strong 2nd Stewardess to join their crew of 11. The person needs to be between the age of Mid 20’s to 30’s. The candidate needs to have at least 1-2 years experience as a 2nd Stewardess aboard a similar size yacht or bigger. The person needs to be strong in Table service, Laundry and interior detailing. These person will need to be able to step up to my role as a Chief stewardess when I am away on vacation and be a can do enthusiastic person.

The person needs to have strong organisational skills, Strong Computer knowledge in Excel, Word and outlook express this is essential for keeping track of inventories and orders. Medical insurance is provided immediately on joining the yacht, Holidays are 3.5 days accumulated per month. One flight home per year. A bonus scheme is also in place contract can be e-mailed for review. The owner is American and he is very family orientated. The owner loves his yacht and regards it as home and they like casual style service. The yacht is mainly private however the owner does lead his yachts sometimes to friends to use. Then when this happens a more formal table is used on board. The Nationalities of the crew arrange from English, Australian, New Zealander, Scottish and Seychellois. We would prefer to employ candidates from Australia before looking at crew that are overseas. There is a Crew contract and the yacht would ideally like crew to commit to the job for at least one year or more. There is a three month probation period.

The yacht is looking for a strong second stewardess that is ready to take the chief stewardess down the track. It would suit someone that has been on charter yachts and now wants something a little bit slower and has time to smell the roses so to speak instead of being flat out so much.

Itinerary

The yacht is currently in New Zealand, the yacht is completing a round the world cruise for the next year. We are waiting on confirmation for the next phase of our travels. It certainly will not be based in the South of France or the Caribbean.

STCW95, ENG1 Medical, a B1/B2 visa this is preferable, Any management courses, human resources or other people related qualifications is a bonus. Any other service orientated courses are of course welcome.

» FEMALE CHEF OR STRONG COOK FOR 30M SAILING YACHT (PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A 30M sailing yacht requires a female chef or strong cook to join their crew of 4. Ideally aged mid 20’s to mid 30’s, strong and active and not afraid of hard work. The yacht is currently in PNG. The candidate needs to have a strong level of Mediterranean and Oriental cuisine and should be a fun and energetic person with a good sense of humour. There is generally a maximum of 6 guests you will be expected to cook for and the crew of 4. Candidate will be expected to assist with watches and help the other crew when required. There is usually a late night shift twice a week which consists of serving guests just drinks, no food. You will be expected to share these alternating late night shifts with the stewardess when required.

The owner is a person who likes and demands creative and interesting food and is big on Meats/Seafood and desserts. He lives life at a very fast pace and expects everyone else to keep up. The successful candidate must have an understanding of sailing and like sailing yachts & watches, be prepared to submit monthly accounts, provision and keep the galley clean and tidy at all times. The crew are British.

No piercings: ears and small nose stud accepted. Small visible tattoos are allowed.

The yacht does not like "princesses" or "prima donnas" on board. They want someone who is happy to chip in with the rest of the crew and work as a team.

Chef will be sharing a cabin with the Mate (captain and stew are not a couple).

If you are currently overseas looking for work the yacht is interested in viewing candidates, however they do not want to pay for flights back to PNG. You will need to cover you own flight to the yacht and will be trained with the crew for two weeks. If you work out fine and fit in with the crew your flight cost will be reimbursed.

» CHEF POSITION ON A 130FT (40M) SAILING YACHT (AUSTRALIAN FLAGGED) (CHARTER AND PRIVATE)

Yacht Information:

A 130ft Sailing Yacht is currently looking for a Chef in their 20s to 40s to join their crew of 6. Female is preferred, but not essential. The vessel is Australian flagged so the candidate must be able to work legally in Australia without need for sponsorship.

The position is Temp however it would become full-time to the right person. The owner is an Australian Property Developer who is very nice and likes good service.

A Culinary trained chef is preferred but excellent cooks will also be considered. Person needs to be flexible in their cooking style as charters’ will be required to be more sophisticated. The owners enjoy casual meals that are great tasting and well presented.

Itinerary

Sydney during the festive season, and then the Whitsunday islands.

Qualifications

STCW95 is a bonus. A Culinary trained chef is preferred but excellent cooks will also be considered.

» TEMP ENGINEER POSITION ON A 40M SAILING YACHT (AUSTRALIAN FLAGGED) (CHARTER AND PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A 40m Sailing Yacht is currently looking for a Temp Engineer to join their crew of 6 for approximately 1 month from the last week of November. The job is full-time, live aboard on a 3 masted schooner. Candidate needs to be well presented, a keen sailor with experience on large yachts. Charter experience would be a bonus.
